Eligibility Criteria for the Summer Internship Program IIT Madras 2025
According to the official IIT Madras Website, the eligibility criteria are as follows:
- Candidates pursuing the 3rd year of B.E./B.Tech./B.Sc. (Engg)
- Candidates in the 3rd or 4th year of Integrated M.E./M.Tech. programs
- 1st-year students of M.E./M.Tech./M.Sc./M.A. or MBA programs
- Candidates with an outstanding academic background, such as:
- High ranks in university examinations
- Notable academic performance and achievements
- Papers presented at seminars
- Executed projects
- Participation in design contests
- Scores/ranks in Mathematics Olympiad

Duration of the Summer Internship
According to the official website, last year the internship started on 22nd May 2024 and ended on 21st July (2 months).
It is suspected that in 2025 IIT Madras Summer Internship will occur from the last week of May to the last week of July.

Stipend
You as an intern at IIT Madras Student Internship program will receive a stipend of ₹6000/- for a maximum period of 2 months.
Documents Required
According to the official notice from the University of IIT Madras:
Each candidate must upload a single PDF file (max. file size 03 MB and .pdf
format only) containing the following documents:
- Detailed Resume or CV including the area of interest.
- Scanned copies of original / self-attested mark lists of SSC (10th standard), HSC (12th standard), all years of bachelor’s degree (BSc / BTech), and all available markets of Masters degree (MSc / MTech). Candidates should have at least 55% marks or equivalent CGPA in all the examinations from SSC onward.
- Letter of recommendation from the Head of the Department (on departmental letterhead) recommending the student for the summer internship. The letter should state the name of the IITM scientist mentor with whom the student wishes to do the internship based on area of expertise of the scientist and the area of interest to the student.
- Email consent from the IITM scientist mentor (whose name is stated in the Letter of Recommendation) stating that the scientist is ready to guide the student for the Summer Internship if the student is selected and allotted to him/her.
